For the 1st generatio Kia Sportage models. These models usea body on
frame construction. Later model Sportages use a uni-body style
construction and that doesn't allow for the body to be lifted off the
frame.
You are encouraged to inspect your
vehicle's body mounts to verify that there are indeed 8 mounts (4 per
side) and those upper body mount bushings are ~80mm (~3-1/4") in
diameter and that there are 14mm (~9/16") diameter threaded studs
projecting down through the body mounts from the body.
If so, then these lift kits will be applicable to your vehicle and
feature 3.5" diameter Mega size lift blocks.
If you have any questions as to the applicability of this kit with your
vehicle, this is how you can find the answer yourself in a few minutes.
On the uni-body models, you won't find any body mounts because the body
and frame are not separate.
Here are the Kia part numbers for replacement body mount bushings:
0K01939941 Rubber-Body Mounting, Upper
0K01739942 Body Mounting, Lower
You may be able to search on-line parts dealers for these P/Ns or take these P/Ns to your local Kia dealer parts counter
There are 2 basic 1st generation Kia Sportage lift kits:
The shorter 1-3/8" (35mm) makes use of the existing body mount
hardware and adds the lift blocks to the stock setup
Assumes that you have adequate exposed length of threads on the 8 body
mount studs, that is 1-3/8" plus room for the nuts.
A small number of vehicles have less than 1-3/8" of exposed
thread.
If this is the case on your vehicle, please advise in your order and we
can supply a shorter lift block, such as 1".
Or you can order the 1-3/8" blocks with bolt extensions (kit D
instead of kit B).
You may find it necessary to trim off some of the threaded stud length
to fit the bolt extension in place as there is only about 1" of
thread depth inside the extension.
Note it is possble to omit one of the two nuts if needed, just use a
thread locking compound on the remaining nut or pick up some nylon lock
nuts.
The taller 3" (75mm) kit uses 3" long bolt extensions for the
stock hardware and adds the 3" lift blocks
Bolt extensions screw onto the stock M14-1.50 studs extending out from
the body and provide similar threads to allow re-use of the stock body
mount nuts.
Bumper and other modifications likely needed at 3" lift and are
not included with this kit
Both kits will include 8 - 3.5" (~89mm) diameter UHMW lift blocks.
Blocks are designed to fit over the existing ~80mm diameter rubber body
mount bushings
They feature a ~6mm (1/4") deep recess, 80mm in diameter to
enclose and contain the top of the rubber bushing to keep it from
squeezing out from the weight that it supports.
As such, the lift blocks will that much taller than the lift height, so
the 1-3/8" lift blocks are physically 1-5/8" tall, owing to
the 1/4" deep recess in the bottom.
Likewise, the top of the block features a stepped down upper portion to
fit inside the metal bushing cups under the body.
The front 2 blocks may be supplied pre-notched, as noted in the instructions,
with the CUT2 option of for all 8 blocks, add the CUT8 option.
New, improved notch design allows easier installation of the front
blocks without needing to raise front of body ~6". Owing to the
difficulty of machining and holding the slippery UHMW blocks, you may
see a little tear out around the notches in the front blocks. This is
only cosmetic and will not affect the integrity of the blocks.
Realize, that the notch cut into the blocks will take away some of the
strength compared to a solid block. For the strongest setup, using
the un-cut blocks is the best. For the easiest installtion, having
the 2 front blocks notched is the way to go. But realize that you'll
install the blocks once and then use them every time you drive the truck,
especially off road.
Natural block color is white, may be custom colored black with the CLR
kit option.
Allow 1-2 weeks additonal for fabrication of the Kia Sportage lift
kits, due to the complexity of the fully machined, oversized lift
blocks and hardware.

n/a = Not applicable or not available for a given height
(*) bolt extensions available separately for (1-3/8" - $150.00) or
(3" - $200.00) plus small flat rate box shipping.
In lieu of bolt extensions on the 1-3/8" lift blocks.
The SLV option adds 8 sleeves, 1-3/8" tall, to fit
over the threaded ends of the body mount studs.
This extends the shouldered portion of the studs the height
of the lift blocks so that the body mount nut and washer can tighten
down onto the sleeve, which in turn sits below the shoulder on the body
mount stud.
On the 1st and 2nd gen Sorento models, there are a total of 10 body mount, 5 on each
side of the vehicle, all about 60mm or 2-1/2" in diameter. There
should be at least 15mm or 5/8" or 16mm of thread exposed on all 10 of the
body mount bolts. Of those bolts, 4 are 10mm or 3/8" in diameter
and 6 are 16mm or 5/8" in diameter. If so, our 15mm Sorento kit shouuld fit.
Later model Sorento vehicles utilize a uni-body type construction and are therefore
not amenable to a body lift as there's no frame to lift the body off of.
