Introduction:

For the Montero vehicles, the 2" body lift is the most popular height ordered. Many folks reporting the ability to fit 33" tall tires after installing a 2" body lift, given a reasonable wheel and tire combination.

There are 3 basic body mount variations for the Mitsubishi Montero/Montero Sport//Pajero and Dodge Raider, Hyundai Galloper vehicles (Gen-I and Gen-II) models, through last model year of body on frame construction), based upon the number of body mounts present, that being:

• 8 Mounts - short wheelbase
• 10 Mounts - short wheel base
• 12 Mounts - Long wheel base

How to determine which type of kit you need for your vehicle?

• The best way to tell is to climb underneath the vehicle and count the body mounts.
  • There will be a pair up front under the radiator.
  • There will be a pair in back under the rear door.
  • Then there will be pairs (same on each side) from the front to the back, typically located under each pillar of the body.
    • There are generally two under the A-pillar (under the windshield)
    • Two under the B-pillar (back side of the front doors)
    • Then 0 or more mounts towards the back of the vehicle:
      • 4-door vehicles will typically have mounts under the C-pillar (back side of the rear doors)
      • Sometimes there is an additional pair of mounts behind the rear wheel wells.
    • 2 door models usually have 8 or 10 mounts
    • 4 door models usually have 10 or 12 mounts
  • If you don't want to bother checking, just order the 12-mount kit (D12) and you'll have all the blocks and bolts you'll need.

Hardware is available in several options:

• Note that some vehicles use 1" longer body mount bolts for the rear.
  • Longer bolts can be requested at time of order if you have found your vehicle requires this
  • Or, for convenience, order the Extra long Hardware (EH) option to get both long and short rear bolts
  • The need for longer rear bolts is usually visually obvious as their heads of the bolts will sit on top of the floor instead of being sunk below the floor level like the other bolts (bolts may be hidden behind the rear corner trim panels).
  • Or you can simply remove one rear bolt and one of the other bolts and compare the lengths to see if you require the longer bolts.
• Standard grade (Grade 5) hardware is included in kits Dxx, includes longer bolts/nuts/washers for each body mount location
  • Hardware may be upgraded to Heavy Duty (Grade 8) by ordering the HDxx option
  • Hardware may be upgraded to Stainless Steel (316 alloy) by ordering the SSxx option
    • Note that the HDxx or SSxx hardware options (mutually exclusive) replace the standard grade hardware in kit Dxx, you'll only receive one set of body mount bolts
• 1.5" or 2" denotes the option of 1.5" or 2" lift, one or the other, it's not adjustable in height
• We can also produce tapered or progressive body lift kits for custom applications:
  • In a tapered lift, the lift block heights are stepped up or down from front to back to help level the vehicle.
  • Add US$50.00 (item: TAPER) to the cost of the maximum desired lift kit and supply us with the following information:
    • Lift height front and rear as well as the horizontal distance between the body mount locations starting at the front:
    • For example: Front-A = ", A-B = ", B-C = ", C-Rear = " for the 5 pair of body mounts.
  • For example with a lift tapering from 2" in front to 1" in back would raise the front end 1" higher than the back if that were your goal.
• Shift lever extensions (kit SL) for the Montero vehicles now available, fits shifters with screw-on knobs with M10-1.25 thread pitch.
• Bed Spacers (kit BS) can be used to support the center of the cargo bed over the rear wheels, if needed
• Polyurethane body mount bushings to replace the stock rubber bushings, if needed.
  • Poly bushing examples.
  • On some Generation 2 Monteros, the front pair of body mounts is a 1 piece unit and can't be replaced.
    • If so, leave these body mounts as-is and replace the remaining ones.
  • For bushings, search for Prothane 4-104
    • These bushings are available in BLack and Red (Add -BL or -R to the basic part number)
    • They come as a set of 6 bushings, which will work for the D50/MityMax pickups
    • For the 8, 10, and 12 mount Montero/Pajero models, order 2 kits if needed.
• Some customers have reported good results with using the standard Toyota Radiator drop brackets on the Montero vehicles.
  • If your radiator is held in place with 4 bolts (approx. 8mm in dia.) that either screw into the radiator flange or into the front core support on the body, then you can add a set of RADiator brackets to your lift kit order by adding the kit item "RAD" to the parts list and US$20.00 to the kit price.
• In the pricing tables below, the "Typical Kits" for each given lift height and vehicle is listed, both in an itemized list at the bottom of each lift height and as bold text in the table columns.
  • The "Typical Kit" contains those parts typically needed to lift a typical vehicle that height, thus the name "Typical Kit".
  • A typical vehicle is one that is somewhat close to stock, that is has the stock engine, stock steering, stock bumpers, etc.
  • Feel free to add or subtract from the typical kit as your needs dictate;
    • So if you wish to upgrade to the Heavy Duty hardware, add the HD option to your kit and adjust the price accordingly.
    • Clicking on the links under the DESCRIPTION column in the tables below take you to a DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM.
    • If an item price is listed under a given height but not highlighted as part of the typical kit, that means it is not typically ordered as part of the typical kit, but can be installed if desired. Consult the installation notes for that item to see what other options are available in lieu of installing that particular item.
    • If an item is listed as "n/a" under a given lift height, it is "not applicable" or "not available" at that given height.

D50/MityMax pickups:

Kits options support 6 cab and 8 bed mounts. Standard lift blocks are all 2" dia. ultimate lift blocks are 2.5" dia. for the cab, 2" dia. for the bed. Prices in US$.

Notes:

• n/a = Not applicable or not available for a given height
• Note that some MityMax/D50 pickup models may have small "cups" under the cab that the cab mount bushings fit into. If those cups are smaller than ~2.5" in dia. then you'll need to oder the standard lift block kits (A or C) and not the ultimate block kits (B or D) since the ultimate block kits have the larger 2.5" dia. cab lift blocks. So make sure to check where the cab sits on the cab mounts and see if that is a large flat area or a small round cup and order accordingly.
